the little cupcake that could

In July you’ll be seeing a familiar logo on TLC. One of my personal favorites, Georgetown Cupcake will be hitting the small screen with their very own reality TV show called “Cupcake Sisters.”

As noted in the Washington Post, “The six-episode series, which launches in July, will follow the lives of Georgetown Cupcake founders Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne as they build and promote their booming cupcake business. Filming begins in Washington Friday and will continue throughout the spring.”

Congratulations ladies!

peeptown

I received this a couple of weeks ago from my friend Todd. Its kind of nice to see that the work we created for Georgetown Cupcake has seeped into the everyday consciousness of the general public in Washington DC. Its really gratifying to see that the work is connecting to their customers.

Check out the logo and storefront.

I was on the show with Jeremy Mende talking about Ideas that Matter, Project M, my Pay it Forward initiative through Design that Cares and the 1% Project; Jeremy’s project made possible by an Ideas that Matter grant.

You can listen to the show which originally aired on February 19, 2009. And you can also subscribe to the show’s podcasts by visiting the iTunes store.

Speak Up!

I recently wrote an article for Under Consideration’s Speak Up on my experience with Project M and my Pay it Forward initiative. Here’s an excerpt from the article.

“I graduated from Syracuse University in 1996 full of excitement to enter the design field. I had the crazy idea that I was going to change the world of design and if I was lucky, become an influential designer at the end of my career. I was 21
